So where have I been. Lol. I have soooo missed writing on my blog and adding a few notes here and there about different things. I love all those who read my blog. Or those who tell a friend. Thank you all so much for the support.

Now on to the final ten movies for Black History Month. This will be a little bit short because I have to finish cooking.

20. Dreamgirls

21. Ray

22. Princess and the Frog

23. Vampire in Brooklyn

24. All of Pam Grier movies: Foxy Brown, Sheeba Baby....etc

25. Cinderella: the one with Brandy

26. The Color Purple

27. Harlem Nights.

28. For Colored girls

The movies I listed are not anything specific. Not in any order what so ever. But these are just a small number of movies I have loved or my family has loved over the years.

Movies: Love edition 12, 13, 14 of February + update

While I am not watching the Grammy's , sorry they are always just too long for me to the point where I don't care to watch anymore. Instead I'd rather blog and watch Desperate Housewives. I will try and post pics this week of the outfits from the red carpet.

Also I will be starting my own business soon, so stay on the look out for that.

Okay on to some movies.

Love Jones
I have seen this movie so many times it is crazy. I think my favorite part is when Larenz Tate says his poem. Now that is just yummy. I am an obvious fan of Nia Long because this is like the 3rd movie of hers I have feature. But she is just a fabulous actress to me. Love Jones takes place I believe in Chi-Town. Features a love affair of words between two people who share a common interest in art. Darius Lovehall is a writer and Nina Moseley is a photographer. Not sure when, but I am pretty sure I wanted a camera after seeing this movie. The movie's title says it all, Love Jones, is basically the need to be with someone feenin' for them in every way possible; and in this case it was an artistic need that needed to be filled through love. Very enjoyable movie that should be watched on V-day with your hunny bunny :)

Waiting to Exhale
I remember when this movie came out and my parents purchased the bootleg and made me hide in the bathroom when the sex scenes came on. Lol. The movie is another Terry McMillan masterpiece that was written in the early 90's later turned movie/box office hit. It features some of the greatest actress ever. Angela Bassett, Loretta Divine, Leah Richon and Whitney Houston. Based out in Arizona, these four women faced what many women face 'til this day, man issues. The message throughout the movie was to basically breathe again with or without a man. Finding your own while still maintaining that gf relationship too. The best part of the movie to me were the songs. I mean Cherish by MJB was like the anthem to the movie. I wonder what this movie would be like if it were made today.

Soul Food
Not just about love, but also about family. Family and God are always there for you. Some may not have the usual dad/mom relationships but family to me is what you make it to be. In the movie there were some low down dirty things going on, some happy times, some very sad times, but in the end family stuck together. The best part of this movie to me was the foodie....hmmmm. I love to eat and I love food so watching it may make you hungry. You have been warmed.

Gumbo Post-Magazines

This is a Gumbo post filled with many thing

Hey ladies,
I know, I know long time no see. I totally miss posting blogs. But my job has me exhausted and a lil stressed among other things. But I am A-OK and you all know I've given it to God.

But, on another note, I have so many things to discuss. First are magazines I am reading now. Essence, Seventeen, and Glamour.

The Essence Mag features Kerry Washington on the cover. As well as of features of naturalistas on almost every page. It was basically a hair mag and showed hair types like mine. I love a lot of fashion mags but most of them never showed relaxed hair and as a young child I'm thinking all curly hair was the same. So I ended up wasting so much money on all these curly hair products that weren't for my hair type. But this issue shows many different style ideas, as well as how to accessorize your natural hair.

Seventeen features K$sha and Glamour has Ms. Beckham on the covers. I have yet to read these but can't wait 'till I have time to actually do so.

Coming up for my blog, I will try to do some interviews soon of my fellow naturalistas, more recipes, fashion, shoes....the usual.
Thank you all for reading my blog I <3>

Am I ready for the Transition?

Hola Chicas
I can't help but be afraid of this journey I may or may not be taking. In a previous post, I mentioned that I may want to go natural but not exactly sure if I am ready to commit fully to being au natural. Full commitment to me means to give up perming for life!! No Perm forever! That was scary to me. I couldn't see myself being comfortable in the corporate world with "nappy" looking hair. I work in a fashion showroom and I wore my hair in the little curls for weeks until recently where I pressed my hair. Then I wore my cute short cut wig. My boss was like OMG you look so cute and I love your hair this way. What she really meant was "please stay away from the natural look because to me you look better this way". With my hair curly, people like my friends complemented me on it. But how did I really look to others, esp those in the corporate world.
Not being able to str8en my hair with a relaxer could alter how people looked at me. I am already African American, short, very skinny, and I live in the 'hood'. And now I'd have nappy hair.
I want to fully transition into natural hair though. It's sexy and cute and just less hectic then perming every other month. It is also more affordable to maintain. It costs me about $100.00 a month to get my hair done. Thats $1200 a year....now add tip and the occasional products you buy to style your hair. Thats almost $1500 a year in just hair care, services, etc.
So far in the past 6 months of natural curling, I have only spent no more than $20 on curl activator. Shampoos and conditioners, deep conditioners I already had.
My point is I am 75% ready to transition fully into natural hair. It's a mind thing. I have to psych myself out into realizing curly or kinky is ok, no matter where you live or work. It's who u truly are. If at any time I feel it affects my chances at a job or whatever then I'll just sew in or wear a wig. But for right now transitioning is in my future....YAY!!!
So if you are ready to go on a journey then take a look at yourself and make a change!!

Hey people, I have been so busy with school and work that I am unable to send ya'll new posts. Well I have the funniest feeling I'm going to have a lot of time on my hands. Anyway here are some swatches of my NYX and Sephora jumbo pencils. I've been wearing makeup since I was like 6 or 7, maybe younger, but I know how things feel on my skin and that things may feel different on others. I'm not saying my prediction is correct but I am saying in comparison to, NYX is just a way better product for me to use. Many of you would agree, right?
So before you say there are many other companies out there besides these 3, I'll say i haven't tried those yet, therefore I can't comment on them. Go to my YT page at youtube.com/pynkstarr
